Hinge Is Helping Singles with Children Make Time to Date this Valentine’s Day

The dating app designed to be deleted has teamed up with singer-songwriter Soko to cover child care costs up to $100 and highlight the challenges of dating as a parent.

February 3, 2022 - Today, Hinge announced their latest campaign to help everyone looking for love find it. The dating app found that more than half (63%) of singles with children - and 73% of LGBTQ+ parents - struggle to find free time to go on dates. To support parents in making time to find love this Valentine’s Day, the dating app is partnering with singer-songwriter and mother Soko to give out $100 stipends, up to $25,000, to go toward singles’ child care needs.*

Starting on Friday, February 4 at 12pm ET, Hinge users who have selected “Have Children” in their profile will be able to participate in the Valentine’s Day campaign. They will receive an in-app notification asking them to opt-in to the campaign. In order to be eligible to receive the $100 child care gift cards, participants must comment on someone’s profile that day. After all, finding a great date begins with having a great conversation. Virtual gift cards for $100 will be sent to each selected parent via email.

As an ambassador for the campaign, Soko hopes to inspire other parents - especially singles in the LGBTQ+ community - to discuss how to prioritize responsibilities as a parent, while also making time to find someone special. The singer-songwriter noted, “Sometimes, I get lost in that world where I’m ‘just’ being a mom non-stop. I forget my core essence and can’t even imagine going on a date or having a romantic life. That's why it's important for us to just put ourselves out there. To try to find love beyond parenthood. Even if you’re not in a place to do it right now, just reminding yourself you deserve is important.”

Hinge also found that more than half (53%) of singles with children struggle to find someone who is comfortable with them being a parent — with a majority of LGBTQ+ parents experiencing this challenge (59%). The dating app unveiled the top 10 U.S. cities for singles with children and LGBTQ+ singles with children in 2022. San Diego rose to the top of the list for all parents looking for love, and when looking closely at the LGBTQ+ community, Portland took the top spot.

“To identify the top cities for singles with children, we looked at two key factors — where our parents have the most meaningful conversations and where they go on great dates,” said Logan Ury, Hinge’s Director of Relationship Science. “San Diego turned out to be the best city for parents looking for love. And if you’re an LGBTQ+ parent in Portland, we have good news — you’re in the right city to find your person.”
